Peach is my six-year old Boston Terrier and the inspiration behind ‘Peachy English Tuition’.
Peach delivers a daily masterclass in perseverance - chasing squirrels, but is yet to succeed. However, her enthusiasm never wanes and ceases to amaze me!
Unfortunately, Peach is unable to impart her wisdom; so it seems that I will have to do!
Working toward and preparing for GCSE exams can be extremely challenging, stressful and demanding for the student themselves and their families. Irrespective of your capability, preparation and commitment - exams can cause bags of anxiety and worry. Ultimately, my aim is to provide support, guidance and coaching to make the preparation process as comfortable as possible. I am an experienced tutor with a passion for supporting through that journey and helping students achieve the results and outcomes that their hard work deserves.
It’s definitely not a ‘one size fits all’ approach and I pride myself on my commitment to coaching, support, encouragement and strategies which are completely tailored to each individual need, capability and learning style. My specialism is English and I have particular expertise in supporting students working toward English Literature and English Language qualifications.
I also have particular skills and experience in supporting students who may not have English as their first language.
For some, the goal in employing a tutor may simply be to support a students learning. It may be to remove particular anxieties around a certain subject (in my case English). It could be very specific exam or coursework preparation or more general tutoring to enhance & underpin their understanding of the topic. Often, it’s a blend of all of the above, but usually the overarching aim is to allow students to achieve the very best results that they are capable of and deserve. For me, it’s important to keep clear sight and track of plans and goals but also extremely important that the experience of the student is a positive one and there should be constant consideration of their experience and wellbeing during their sessions.
It’s vital to make the sessions as engaging, specific and enjoyable as possible to create the most positive outcomes. It should support classroom teaching rather than simply ‘repeat what is being said at school / college’.
A bit about me: I’m Derbyshire born and bred and went to school here myself (before ‘crossing the border’ and attending university in Sheffield, South Yorkshire)… Outside of the office, I can usually be found taking advantage of being so close to the Peak District and enjoying long walks with my partner and our Boston terrier Peach! I’m an avid reader and a self confessed movie buff. I love the countryside, trips to the coast and above all else - I love a pot of strong tea, a boxset and a large slice of sponge cake!
If you are keen to discuss tutoring options at any stage, I welcome the chance to speak.
